One of the objectives of the Marie Curie Fellowships is to create long-term collaborations and mutually beneficial co-operation between Europe and the other third country involved in each project. Indeed this principle is also fully embedded in Bir Al-Nas, wishing to strengthen the collaborations among the Tunisian and Italian institutions linked by the project.
In particular since last September we started a closer collaboration with the University of Pavia (Italy) and the ISO4 Laboratory (Torino, Italy) related to tools and techniques to assess nitrate pollution in groundwater.
After the visit in Sfax of Dr. Elisa Sacchi and Dr. Enrico Allais we had the opportunity to organize a short internship at the University of Pavia for one of the ENIS-LRAE PhD candidates.
Thanks to the financial support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ms. Siwar Kammoun is now spending three weeks at Pavia University to deepen the study of the techniques for δ15N_NO3 and δ18O_NO3 analysis.
This stage represents a good opportunity for knowledge transfer between the involved institutions, while creating the basis for a permanent collaboration between UNIVE, ISO4 and ENIS also at the end of the Marie Curie Fellowship.
And you? Have you ever had the opportunity to do an internship in an interesting laboratory/university?
